Before Governor Spanberger took office, former Governor Youngkin notified the U.S. Treasury Department that Virginia will participate in the FSTC in 2027, so K-12 students in the Commonwealth will be able to access these scholarships.
Governor Spanberger has not yet decided whether Virginia’s students will be able to access scholarships in 2028, the second year of the program.
- Virginia’s elementary and secondary students will have access to FSTC-funded scholarships in 2027!
- SGOs are preparing to start collecting donations and distribute scholarships in Virginia in January 2027. They await instructions about how to make sure they are on the State SGO List.
- Schools, tutoring programs, and other education providers are preparing for the increase in demand in 2027.
