Wisconsin’s Governor Evers has declared he will block students in his state from receiving FSTC-funded scholarships. He even vetoed legislation pleading with him to let students benefit after he leaves office in January 2027.
He still has time to reverse his decision.
If he doesn’t, it will be up to his successor to decide if students in Wisconsin will benefit from FSTC-funded scholarships in the future. Candidates on both sides of the aisle have indicated they will opt in.
Until Governor Evers opts in, Wisconsin’s elementary and secondary students will NOT have access to FSTC-funded scholarships. The governor still has time to act.
Meanwhile, SGOs, schools, tutoring programs, and other education providers are delaying important preparations in advance of January 2027 when the FSTC becomes effective.
